After months of development we have finally built and launched the Project Bubble API!
Developers can now get their hands on the internal organs of Project Bubble and build their own apps which interface with our API.
What does this mean to the non-technical person? It means that hopefully soon we will have the following types of apps:
- iPhone & iPad apps for managing projects and invoices on the road
- Adobe AIR based desktop apps for PC & Mac
- Apps that let you create projects through email
- Blackberry apps
- Reporting apps that produce pretty graphs
- Financial apps that let you help integrate data with finance software
- FreshBooks integration
- Basecamp integration

We have just finished working on another round of updates which I'm sure a lot of you will find incredibly useful.
Firstly, we are about to launch our Enterprise plan which will allow sub-domains (or your own domain), a branded interface and login page and unlimited users. We are launching this next week and in the mean time all those on the Small Business plan can get access to a BETA version of those features for no extra cost (available in the My Company page).
Secondly, we have released a few minor updates which have been requested by you.
- We have integrated a small calendar on the Dashboard
Although it's simple, it is actually very useful if you want a quick overview of projects that are due over the coming month or two. We hope to add Due Tasks and Due Invoices to the calendar too soon. Just hover your mouse over the highlighted dates to see what's happening.
- We have enhanced the Project Manager permission set
Previously project managers could NOT edit projects or tasks that didn't belong to them, but a lot of you found this frustrating because you needed your project managers to be able to edit projects or tasks they were invited to. So now users with the Project Manager permission can edit projects and tasks they are invited to, while Collaborators get the same basic permissions.
- The Dashboard is a little prettier
It's the little things in life.
- We have fixed a few bugs and stuff like that.
Always improving.
So we hope you enjoy these new updates! More coming soon for Invoicing. Plus don't forget the API and developer site, also coming soon.

Invite your whole company!
You can now invite multiple users to share your projects, tasks, clients, estimates and invoices.
We have been hard at work with this feature and because of the huge demand for it we moved it from the bottom of the roadmap to the top.
Basically the major difference now is you can gain full control over the permission sets for your collaborators and staff. For example you may want to bring your accountant in to view your invoices but not your clients or projects. You may want to bring a sub-contractor in to view projects, but not your invoices. Perhaps you want to give another project manager in your team full access to be able to create and assign their own tasks, plus access the client data.
This is now all possible with the multiple user feature (referred to recently as 'Company Accounts'). All you need to do is log in with your administrator account (the one you first signed up with), and click on the new Users tab.

So that you can see what is officially bubbling, we've posted our Development Roadmap (which is basically a public project that we update often) for you all to see and comment on.
You can request other features, or suggest that things be moved up in order of priority if you feel that's necessary.
As you know we listen to you all in terms of what you want from Bubble, and a lot of these features come from you. However there are other features that we just wanted to release anyway because we feel they are going to be really beneficial in making the app smoother, easier and also more powerful.
The public project is viewable here, so check it out and let us know what you think.

It's official! We're moving to solid Rackspace Cloud servers!
That basically means we going to be sitting on very reliable servers based in Virginia, US. The company that will provide our server will be a reputable firm called Rackspace who have been around a while.
One major advantage of the hardware we are planning on using is that it uses "Cloud hosting" which means that if one server goes down another will take it's place. For you that means pretty much 100% uptime (apart from scheduled maintenance). It has other advantages aswell such as speed and security.
It's another step that we are taking to provide you with a reliable, solid and amazing project management and invoicing experience.
OK, when!?
We are planning to migrate on May 1st 2010. So please be aware that there will be downtime that weekend as we move everything over. Because it's the weekend, and because we will plan the downtime for evenings - you should be ok.
It's also a bank holiday weekend so hopefully you will all be away having fun in the sun, while we sit in front of command prompts :-)
We will make sure your data is backed up and secure. You will not lose any data and everything should be all up and running for the following Monday, with shiny new and fast servers!

Your clients and collaborators can now subscribe to your project via RSS. This can be really useful if you want to track the updates to a project through your feed reader, mobile or browser without needing to receive email notifications.
Just go to your public project page (magnifying glass) then click on Subscribe.
The updates that are posted to the feed are project comments, and new tasks. We'll make the feed more clever over time (with things like updates to tasks and task comments), but we thought for now we'd just keep it simple.
Enjoy!

So what's new? ...lots basically. I'll cut to the chase and tell you what the new features are. Hope you enjoy using them!
- Guest comments means you can let your clients comment on your public project page (click on the magnifying glass next to the project) as well as be able to track the progress and updates of your project.
- Duplicate invoices simply click the options button on the invoice then you can create an exact copy of the invoice, just like with projects. Simple.
- PDF attachments in emails lets you fire off invoices and estimates without requiring your client to visit the website to get the PDF
- Convert estimate to invoice by clicking on the options button in the Estimates page. This feature is useful for those who have an approved estimate that they want to turn in to an invoice.
- Company Details now show underneath the main company address in your invoices and estimates. So you can use this for things like email, telephone number or tax information. You can edit these from the My Account page.
- Improved Logo Resizing intelligently works out the best way to resize your logo so it will always look good.
Plus the usual round of bug fixes and speed increases.

The long awaited Recurring Invoicing feature is live!
Recurring invoicing has been one the most highly requested features since December 09, and now finally it's ready.
You can now automatically raise invoices every week, month or year. Just enable the "Recurring Invoice" option when you create an invoice and the invoice will be duplicated based on the frequency that you set. Simple.

Making invoices in Bubble has just been improved even more. You can now easily edit the Invoice Title, Description and Footer with a nice inline editor.
The main advantages this brings, apart from being a lot easier and simpler to use, is that now the 'description' field can be whatever you want it to be - not necessarily a description but instead it could be your billing details. Also now you can customize the footer per invoice (and estimate), so you can show a different footer on each invoice. This could be useful if you want to express different payment terms, or if you want to put further information relevant to that invoice.
Note: Your invoices won't be affected, its just when you make new ones it will be easier than before.
