Free Project Management for Students

Are you a student?

Project Bubble is going to be completely free for full-time students.

We're going to give away the Small Business version of Project Bubble (worth $19 per month) to any students who are studying full-time. This means that you will be able to manage all your projects without any limitations and benefit from other stuff that the Small Business plan gives you such as the File Uploads for your coursework or lecture notes, API for connecting apps (such as the iPad app when it is ready), the unlimited number of projects and lots of other cool stuff.

The deal is that you have to be in full-time education and studying at an accredited university or college. So you'll have to prove this to us by scanning in your student card or any document that certifies your student status, and emailing it to us from your university email address.

Then you'll get full unlimited access to Project Bubble Small Business completely free for the whole time you are studying. You will need to renew your free application once a year.

After months of development we have finally built and launched the Project Bubble API!

Developers can now get their hands on the internal organs of Project Bubble and build their own apps which interface with our API.

What does this mean to the non-technical person? It means that hopefully soon we will have the following types of apps:

  • iPhone & iPad apps for managing projects and invoices on the road
  • Adobe AIR based desktop apps for PC & Mac
  • Apps that let you create projects through email
  • Blackberry apps
  • Reporting apps that produce pretty graphs
  • Financial apps that let you help integrate data with finance software
  • FreshBooks integration
  • Basecamp integration

iPhone & iPad Apps

blog-ipad

We know a lot of you are eagerly anticipating our iPhone & iPad apps and we have announced in the past that the apps will be ready in July. Unfortunately however, you might have to wait a while longer because of unforeseen delays.

So here's the deal - basically we are building our API at the moment and this is nearly complete. We have a genius developer putting it together called Jamie and we will be releasing info on it shortly. The API will basically allow apps to securely connect to the Project Bubble database.

The idea was to hold off on web-based development while we built the API and then have another company help us build the iPhone & iPad app while the API was being finalized. Then we were going to release all three things together in the summer.

Unfortunately though the company we were working with sadly let us down and backed out of the deal, so now we have an API but no official iPhone or iPad app in development.

However don't panic because this is what we are going to do.

Take Project Bubble with you wherever you go!

Hold up, we're not talking about an iPhone app here (sorry!), this this is something you can wear: introducing the Project Bubble T-Shirt Competition 2010!

We want an eye-catching yet simple t-shirt that reflects Project Bubble with one glance. We will sell the t-shirt in our shop and we want you to design it!

Here's what you can win:

  • 1 years subscription to our Enterprise account (worth $600)
  • The winning t-shirt, sent to your door
  • Lots of glory

2 runners up will win:

  • The winning t-shirt, sent to your door
  • A bit of glory

What you need to do

All you need to do is download our brand EPS files and then submit the design to us in PDF format. (Other formats may be ok but make sure you send it in vector format.)

Be creative, the sky is the limit. The only requirement is you get our logo on there somewhere. We suggest a simple catchy phrase, and just a few colours to make printing easier.

Where to submit your entry

When you have finished designing you can email it to us at hello@projectbubble.com, or you can Tweet it using the hash tag #pbcompetition, and we will collate all the entries on Twitter so you can see them as they come in.

Closing date

The closing date for the competition is August 1st 2010.

How will it be judged?

You guys will judge the entries! You'll only be able to vote once though so make it count, and please don't vote for your own entry.

Please re-tweet this, and have fun designing!

Free Migration Service

Posted: May 5th 2010 (0 comments)

Have you come from Basecamp, Freshbooks, Blinksale or Zoho?

We offer a free migration service for our paid members. Just contact us first of all (using the link in the footer) to let us know which service you are coming from, then we'll simply ask you for the export files that they give you.

You can then have all your clients and contacts imported to Project Bubble, for no extra charge!

Alternatively if you want to do this yourself you can use the import CSV feature, making sure you format the file in the same manner as the export file that Project Bubble produces.

Please note at this time we cannot import projects or files, but we can import your clients and contacts. We are working on an improved import tool over the next few weeks.

Do you 'Like' us?

We just added the new Facebook Like widget to our blog.

If you've been following the Facebook news at their recent event you will know about this widget that allows you to easily integrate the same "Like" functionality that you see on Facebook profiles and pages on to your blog. So, we thought we'd do it too!

Pricing Information

blog-upgrade

A new pricing plan for Project Bubble has been launched!

The new plan will pave the way for future development, faster support, better server hardware and of course the eagerly anticipated API which will launch hopefully in the Summer.

As a free member you can still create unlimited projects tasks and invoices for 3 clients. This is great for personal use, freelancers who are just getting started in their business or for students who don't need clients. This remains completely free.

For those who use Bubble for more than 3 clients there is a new pricing plan called Professional which costs just $7 per month, and with that you get the import facilities and unlimited clients.

blog-api

What is an API and how is it going to help Project Bubble?

An API is quite simply something that allows software to talk to each other. The good news is we are going to be building one for Project Bubble.

What does this mean? Well it means a great deal.
