What's Bubbling for 2010?

Well, Bubble's only been live for about 4 weeks and it's seen huge growth! I didn't realise it would be as popular as it has been which is awesome. Please continue to spread the word, I'll just make sure the server can handle it! :-)

As you can see by clicking on the Feedback tab, there are lots of feature requests. I want to build a lot of them, if not all of them, but the thing to remember is Bubble is built on Simplicity so I don't want to over-complicate it. However a few of the following features will likely make it in the next update.

What's Been Suggested?

Here are some of the ideas I've been thinking about, and some of the ones you have suggested.

  • Multiple user login - share and delegate projects
  • Client login - let clients comment on projects/tasks
  • File tagging - tag projects to files and share with clients
  • Custom invoice templates - branded to your company
  • Custom project page templates - branded to your company
  • Project RSS feeds - have clients subscribe to projects/tasks
  • Recurring invoices - Automatic billing
  • Data import/export - import and export all the data
  • Secure SSL - an extra layer of security
  • API - so you can build your iPhone and OS X apps

Keep suggesting and hopefully over the next few weeks I'll have the time to roll some of these features out.

What is Most Important

Obviously the most important thing to focus on with Bubble is, as always:

  • Good level of service, quick fixing of bugs
  • Usability improvements
  • Servers, speed and up-time
  • Localisation, currencies and translation

Those things will always be at the top of the list, over new features. I hope you agree.

Will Project Bubble Stay Free?

For those wondering about whether Project Bubble will stay free or not? I would like there to always be a free version of Project Bubble which offers the ability to create unlimited projects, tasks and invoices. Also Bubble will be free for the whole time it is in Beta. After that a premium plan will be made available, email me directly for more information on this.

Thank you!

Keep your comments coming, and thank you for all the kind words you have said about Bubble. Enjoy!

+1 for the API!

I've just sent you an email, could be prefect for feeding invoice data to [Crunch](http://www.crunch.co.uk)

Hi Michael, yes API will hopefully come early 2010. It will allow for companies like yours to plug in to the Bubble architecture and use their own apps or develop new ones (e.g. Adobe Air and iPhone apps). Exciting :-)

Hey Stu,

Great work man. Really nice to see a possible alternative to Basecamp.

I think a really important feature is the ability to estimate/quote on a project. Without this, how does one keep everything unified?

Also, the API is +1 for me. Without an iPhone version, I cant see myself switching over to this, even though I'd really like to.

Also, one thing I like about Basecamp is the ability to upload files and colloborate on them with clients. You can also related these files to "to dos", milestones etc.

Great work, keep going.

Deliver these and other features, and I think you'll have a serious business here.

Cheers from Oz

Dom
